It Was A Fish

It appeared as an unexpected visitor that came crashing through. A wish. Exploding in brilliant lights of a thousand colors. I heard of the legends of these so-called wishes. They come in many different forms, some animals, some humans, some even objects. But it is said that only a few people can catch them.

The light hovered in front of me, almost blinding. Slowly ever so slowly, as if looking through my soul, the wish formed a shape of a fish, a fish with glowing orange and white colors swimming in the air. If I wasn’t mad before, I confidently am now. As eager as any human being is out there. I brave the first step, and it swam farther away. Of course, this wasn’t easy! Whoever said that it was should go continue on dreaming.

I chased it across the streets. Never mind the green light and roaring sound of the vehicles. Down the wish went to the darkest of slums. Where children are roaming around freely. Why aren’t they going to school? Where are their parents? Up we went to the highest building up above the crashing grays and blacks and whites fighting over harmony that they very much destroyed. Left and right, the maze we went. This chase seemed to be a never-ending game. I traveled the world. I traveled through time. Across the entire space, I roamed but, the end is always the same.

Warm light pulsing, beating as if it was a heart. My heart beating. We met at twilight. Where I caught the wish and swallowed it whole. Tasting what I so hungrily chased till the ends of the world.
